Lion Bill Hester (#60) won the Tail Twisterís pot on the first drawing.
This was our first evening meeting with 18 members present and 6 guests. Guests were Deloris White, Mary Hartwig, Nancy Frankenberger, Brian and Jeff Erwin. Due to a conflict of another group having their meeting on the second Tuesday, it was decided to have our evening meeting on the first Tuesday of November and December. The December meeting will also be our Christmas meeting.
Everyone enjoyed Coach Dickie Nuttís talk and witty comments about his family and sports in general. This is Coach Nuttís 21st year at ASU and 13 years as head basketball coach. He encouraged everyone to purchase season tickets for the 2007-08 basketball games.
Our District 7-0 Convention is next week on October 20 at St. Bernardís Auditorium. Lion Pat needs our help with members attending the convention. We need members to help set up the facilities at 8:00 AM with the meeting starting at 9:00 AM. International Director Leland Kolkmeyer will be the luncheon speaker bringing the message from Int. President Amarasuriya, "Challenge to Change". In order to have the appropriate amount of food catered, we need a head count of everyone planning to attend the convention. Please advise Lion Pat next Tuesday. J & N Barbeque will cater the meal and entertainment will be by the Buckhorns, a "blue grass" band. There will be a hospitality room at Quality Suites Motel off Phillips Drive on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. All Lions and guests are invited.
After all our flags getting a good soaking last Monday, it was suggested we change our rule to not put out the flags, if there is a 40% chance of rain.
We have three projects coming up in November and December. Our Pecan Sale and White Cane in November and the Lions TV Auction in December. We need to start collecting items now for the TV Auction which will be December 8 with Suddenlink providing the facilities again.
The next Car Show Committee meeting will be October 30 at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene at 7:00 PM. Car Show sponsors are urgently needed. Lion Ken Helman is chairman for Car Show sponsors.
Scheduled programs:
October 16 Business meeting
October 23 Jeremy Holler with 875 Eng Battalion
October 30 Lion President Ron Erwin, mission trip to Africa
